Functions

The pivotal function of the Directorate of Data Management is to collect, compile and analyze statistical data relating to Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax for fulfilling the data requirement in the context of Annual Budgeting, Planning, Monitoring, forecasting and rendering technical advice to the Ministry of Finance, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs from a statistical standpoint.

Reports Generated

On the recommendations of the Working Group constituted by the Ministry of Finance, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs for streamlining reports/returns in indirect taxes; all Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax revenue data is furnished to the Directorate of Data Management on line through ACES and ICES 1.5 by the All India field formations in two important monthly reports, namely- Monthly Performance Revenue Report, popularly known as the Finance Minister’s Report (FMR) and Monthly Revenue Report.

Monthly Performance Revenue Report (FMR)

The FMR on the Central Excise side contains details of Central Excise revenue from major commodities, performance in key result areas, duty foregone, top 10 assessees, production/clearance of manufactured goods and products, etc., it also includes information on Service Tax collected from the top 20 services. On the Customs side, the report contains import/export revenue from major commodities, quantities and values of major items imported/exported, performance in key result areas, top 10 importers, duty foregone under Export promotion Schemes, drawback paid, information on quantities/values of major goods imported during the month etc..

Monthly Revenue Report (MRR)

The MRR are detailed monthly revenue realization reports separately in respect of Central Excise, Service Tax and Customs.

Monthly Revenue Report on Central Excise(MRR-EX)

MRR-EX indicates the revenue realization vis-à-vis targets, break-up of revenue from petroleum and non-petroleum products, budge-head wise and duty-wise break-up and number of SSI and Non-SSI units, units paying revenue more than `. 10 Million (1 crore) per annum etc.

Monthly Revenue Report on Customs(MRR-CUS)

MRR-CUS reflects the actual Customs revenue realization vis-à-vis targets, budge-head wise and duty-wise break-up of Import/Export duties/Cess from major Commodities imported/exported, etc.

Monthly Revenue Report on Service Tax(MRR-ST)

MRR-ST reflects the actual Service Tax revenue realization vis-à-vis targets as well as the Service-wise revenue from all services.
